how to love shine play
Making the most of your festival experience
Whether you are a Love Shine Play alumni or you’re joining us for the first time, we hope the following information will answer many questions and ensure your weekend experience is smooth and easy.
Deep breath in, deep breath out…let’s do this!
CHECK IN & GETTING SITUATED
-
Please bring your pass confirmation (paper copy or electronic) to check-in. If you forget, no worries, your name, and ID will get the job done!
Registration will begin the Thursday of the festival, and the location/time will be emailed prior to the festival. After Thursday, you can also check in all weekend at our Hospitality Tent in Mountain Air Market in Pack Square Park. See the festival map for the location.
-
For ease of keeping up with your schedule and all festival happenings, download the Sched app to your phone and search for Love Shine Play Festival. Once you find Love Shine Play, log in to your account where you can view the full schedule or toggle to view "My Sched" at the top of the page. You are also able to print your schedule as well if you do not have a smartphone.
-
Please allow the students from the last class to exit before you enter the classroom. Check-in with our volunteers and allow yourself time to get settled. Some classes will be very full with little space between mats, so thank you in advance for being flexible as we make space for everyone.
All sessions have a limited capacity. If you are on a waitlist for a class or are attending on a space-available basis, you will be allowed admission 5 minutes prior to the session beginning if there is room.
Parking & Getting Around
-
There are multiple parking decks throughout downtown Asheville, all indicated on the festival map. Each of them provides easy access to the festival venues and they are an affordable way to keep your car downtown all day. There is also metered street parking available for shorter times (2-3 hours maximum). Asheville is busy in the summer so allow yourself plenty of time to park.
-
The festival is pedestrian-friendly! We have done our best to create the smallest footprint possible, as well as allow ample time between classes for easy transitions. Depending on your schedule, you will have anywhere from 30-60 minutes between sessions. We always suggest you make time in your schedule to rest, nourish your body, and enjoy Asheville. Please familiarize yourself with the festival map for the location of the venues. If you have any questions about moving between venues, please let us know. Note ~ locations are subject to change ~ stay up-to-date on your SCHED app.

We are blessed to live in a temperate rainforest that is both beautiful and unpredictable at times. An umbrella and cooling mist fan are great to have!

The Asheville Regional Airport (AVL) is Western North Carolina's largest airport. It offers jet and commuter service on Allegient, United, American, Delta and Jet Blue. Ground transportation and major rental car companies are available at the airport terminal. Flights into Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP), Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT), or McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS) are alternatives to flying directly to Asheville. Greenville is a 1 hour drive, Charlotte and Knoxville are both about 2 hour drives.
Asheville is located at the junction of Interstate 26 and Interstate 40, with an I-240 connector that passes through downtown. The beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway has four primary accesses in Asheville at US 25, US 70, US 74A & NC 191. Maps are recommended as highways may have listed directions but may travel in different directions. For example, a road signed "east" may travel north/south for a significant amount of time.
